Alien flowers bloomed in shocking colors all around, filling the strange world with a intoxicating fragrance. Trees bloomed with luminous blue leaves, and silvery trunks all around the little clearing they stepped into. Birds far off sang their arrival to the world, singing their joy into the bright day, with all the love and wonderment that a new world could offer.

The door closed softly behind mom. I pulled the blanket over my head and started to sing; thinking that if I didn't hear them, it would be okay. I was wrong.
It started almost as soon as the door made the soft click of the latch sliding into place. They made themselves known to me then, as always. Little noises, like a shuffling sound by my bed, or the soft fluttering sound by my window.
A shadow passed over my eyes and I whimpered softly.
"Little girl," the chiming voice taunted. "Little girl, won't you look at me?"
"NO! I won't, I won't," my panic making my voice higher than it was. They had never spoken to me before. Not while i was wide awake. Fear made me tremble and clutch the blanket to me all the harder.
